ITALTECNICA BRIO 2000-M is an electronic pump controller designed for automatic starting, stopping and protection of single-phase water pumps. The device automatically starts the pump when system pressure falls due to water demand, for example when a tap is opened, and stops the pump when water flow ceases after the tap is closed. BRIO 2000-M can replace a traditional system consisting of a mechanical pressure switch and pressure tank.

BRIO 2000-M is intended for single-phase electric pumps with a maximum current of 12 A. The power supply range is 115–230 V AC ±10 %, 50/60 Hz. The cut-in pressure can be adjusted between 1 and 3.5 bar. The factory preset cut-in pressure is 1.5 bar, and the manufacturer specifies that the pump's maximum pressure must be at least 1 bar higher than the cut-in pressure set on the BRIO 2000-M.

Unlike a traditional mechanical pressure switch, BRIO 2000-M determines pump shutdown according to the interruption of water flow rather than a preset cut-out pressure. When water consumption stops, the controller delays pump shutdown by approximately 7–15 seconds, helping to reduce excessive pump cycling under low-flow conditions.

One of the key functions of BRIO 2000-M is dry-running protection. If the water supply is interrupted, the controller automatically stops the pump to protect it against damage caused by dry operation. A red FAILURE indicator signals a dry-running fault. Once the water supply has been restored, the system can be reset using the RESET button. Automatic restart is also available on certain versions.

The BRIO 2000-M model incorporates a pressure gauge that provides a visual indication of system pressure and can help identify pressure drops or possible leaks. The pressure gauge has a diameter of 40 mm and a measuring range of 0–12 bar or 0–170 psi.

The maximum permissible system pressure is 10 bar. Hydraulic connections are standard 1" GAS male threads. BRIO 2000-M can be installed either vertically or horizontally, provided that the water-flow direction indicated by the arrow on the housing is observed. This allows flexible installation in different pumping and water-supply systems.

BRIO 2000-M has an IP65 protection rating. Permitted water temperature is +5 to +55 °C, maximum ambient temperature is +45 °C and storage temperature ranges from -10 to +50 °C. The manufacturer specifies the controller for clean-water systems only; it is not suitable for sea water, sewage, drainage systems, explosive, corrosive or other hazardous liquids.
