VAREM EXTRAVAREM LR expansion vessel for heating systems 40 l, 3/4", 5 bar

VAREM EXTRAVAREM LR 40 L is a diaphragm expansion vessel designed for closed water-based heating systems. It compensates for the increase in heating-water volume caused by temperature rise and helps maintain stable pressure during normal heating and cooling cycles.

The EXTRAVAREM LR range uses a fixed membrane separating the heating medium from the pressurised air chamber. As the water heats up and expands, additional volume enters the expansion vessel and compresses the air chamber. When the system cools, the water is returned to the heating circuit. The 40-litre version has a crimped construction and a galvanised carbon-steel counterflange.

Model UR040231CS000000 has a nominal capacity of 40 litres, maximum working pressure of 5 bar and a standard factory pre-charge of 1.5 bar. The system connection is 3/4", while the manufacturer's stated dimensions are 320 × 580 mm.

The vessel is designed for operation with water between -10 and +99 °C. It can be used in radiator heating, underfloor heating, boiler and heat-pump water circuits where the required expansion-vessel capacity has been correctly calculated for the system.

VAREM does not recommend water mixed with ethylene or propylene glycol as the standard application for the EXTRAVAREM LR range. Where glycol is used, the maximum concentration is 20% and maximum fluid temperature is +70 °C. With water, operation is permitted up to +99 °C.

EXTRAVAREM LR vessels are not suitable for potable-water applications. Domestic hot-water and potable-water systems require an expansion vessel specifically designed for those applications.

The vessel is finished in red, with a standard factory pre-charge of 1.5 bar. VAREM specifies a packaging volume of 0.068 m³ and 36 units per pallet for this 40-litre version.

The 40 L EXTRAVAREM LR is subject to CE marking under PED 2014/68/EU. With 40 L × 5 bar giving PS × V = 200, VAREM places this vessel in PED Category I.
